There are endless energy sources but they can all be grouped into two forms. Some of these energy sources are exhaustible while others are inexhaustible. Exhaustible energy sources have the biggest negative effect on the climate and the environment. They cause green house emissions which in turn affects the atmosphere and its habitat negatively. The main form of exhaustible energy source is fossil fuels. Petroleum and carbon are used widely across the whole world. They are the main source of energy production which is used to power electrical plants, industries, machines and vehicles.

Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydro exist in large quantities but are a less popular form of energy production. If produces and used well, the renewable energy sources could provide a long term solution to pollution energy production, low cost energy and shortage of commodities. The rising levels of fossil fuel consumption have led to increase in green house effects and global warming is now on the rise.

Using renewable energy sources will source the issues of energy resources and global emissions.  Even though non renewable energy sources are the main power sources in the world, people are now putting some effort into increasing the use of non renewable sources for alternative energy production.

Why use renewable sources

The reliability of fossil fuels as the main source of energy has affected the planet negatively for a long period of time.  Burning of fossil fuels caused emission of carbon dioxide. Once this chemical is released into the atmosphere, it causes global warming.  Even though governments in different areas of the world are trying to reduce the chemical emissions, the effect will not go away unless the whole world turns to more eco-friendly methods of energy production.  Renewable energy sources do not cause major air pollution issues nor do they have any impact on the environment and a whole.

Types of renewable sources of energy

Solar power is the most obvious renewable energy source. It works by converting the solar power into electricity. Some of the common ways of converting solar energy to electricity include solar panels and photovoltaic panels. Wind is also a popular form of renewable energy source that has been used for centuries. Farmers harness the power of the wind and use it to pump water in their large pieces of land.  Wind is a very great source of electric production.  The wind turbines are planted in areas where there are high levels of wind.

Hydroelectric power refers to energy harnessed from moving water. The great thing about harvesting power from water is you can do it in simple flowing streams and high waterfalls. Tidal energy has also been used over a long period of time for energy production. Geothermal energy is harvested from the earth’s crust. Heavy machinery is inserted near the crust to harvest energy produced by the high amount of heat.

Final word

The rising green house emissions are causing more global warming which is bad for the environment. The only way to save the atmosphere and living creatures is reduce the large scale production of energy from unrenewable sources of electricity.
